Tablet-woven inscription band sewn to a hand towel
For Christmas 2003, my mom told me she would like to have pink hand towels for her bathroom. To make the gift more personal, I wove this band, and then sewed it to a towel.
I used 10/2 perle cotton for warp and weft, and letters based on Gill Sans from my book Please Weave a Message: Instructions and Graphs for Tablet-Woven Calligraphy, There are 24 tablets for the pattern area, and 4 tablets on each side for the borders. I machine washed and dried the towel and band to preshrink them, then pressed the band, turned the ends under, and sewed the band onto the the towel by machine.
