Exquisite Tablet-Woven Calligraphy

double-faced inscription: folks are just amazed by exquisite tablet-woven calligraphy

This is a "tablet-woven calligraphy intensive" for those with some experience who wish to practice and perfect their skills. Weave a beautiful inscription band that you can place on a dresser or altar, hang above a doorway, frame and hang on the wall, or give to a loved one in celebration of a special life event such as a birth or a wedding.

This workshop requires a lot of preparation, so most of the class time can be devoted to weaving. Before class begins, you will choose one of the following letter styles from my book Please Weave a Message: Uncial, Textura Quadrata, Humanist Bookhand, Italic, or Legend (shown here), and graph the words you wish to weave. I will be available by e-mail and phone to help you prepare.

If you have a tensioning system that you already like for double-faced weaving, bring it with you. Otherwise, come to the workshop with the tools described in the book, including warping wand, board, tensioning blocks, warp spreader, tablet holder, and C-clamps. Please come to class prepared to make a continuous warp and start weaving. You may make your warp at home if you wish to have more time to weave in class.

If you don't finish by the end of the workshop, wrap up your warp and complete it when you get home.
