SCOT Wave with Knots.
I made this necklace using eight 110"-long one-color cotton cords, 1/8" in diameter. It is worked in the Wave design. This is a popular SCOT shape, which students learn in my beginning ply-split workshops by making a short braid attached to a keyring.
The tricky part for me was joining the braid in the center. I haven't yet written up the instructions for the necklace, but will get around to it eventually (especially if I have requests!).
Instructions for making the braid are found in my booklet Great SCOT!, and in The Techniques of Ply-Split Braiding by Peter Collingwood.
This necklace was shown in the juried exhibition Sea Strands: Braids, Bands, and Beads at Convergence 2002 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The decorative knotwork on the necklace is by Maggie Machado.
